About Big C

 

Big C is a dedicated charity that has been supporting people affected by cancer in Norfolk and surrounding counties for over 40 years. Their mission is to provide outstanding cancer support through local centres, online resources, and phone services. Big C offers a wide range of services, including counselling, complementary therapies, and support groups, to patients, their families, and friends. They are committed to enhancing cancer care and research through partnerships and community involvement, ensuring comprehensive support for everyone affected by cancer.

 

Big C was established in 1980, and now operates 11 shops and a warehouse, alongside an eBay and online shop.

 

Challenge

 

Big C became a Nisyst customer in January 2024, following numerous preliminary meetings to understand the needs and requirements the charity had for their EPoS system. Prior to the move, all donor information was shared with Nisyst, and the transition began with the largest shop, followed by the smaller ones, achieving full implementation by the end of January 2024.

 

The transition was smooth, with the Nisyst Training and Project Team, working closely with the Big C team to ensure all requirements were met and exceeded. Big C needed a streamlined, glitch-free solution with robust support and ongoing development, including an intuitive Gift Aid solution. Nisyst emerged as the ideal solution, aligning perfectly with Big C’s technological needs.

 

Solution

 

Nisyst’s ChariotWeb charity EPoS system was identified as the optimal solution for Big C. The team spent two days familiarising themselves with the system and implementing it, ensuring a smooth go-live process. ChariotWeb’s robust support processes meant any queries were promptly addressed, and the system met all requirements without any issues.

 

The ChariotWeb system features user-friendly tablets for paperless Gift Aid, speedy label printing, informative dashboards, and simplified PoS screens. Monthly reports, which previously took a day to compile, can now be completed in a real time.

 

Outcome

 

The transition to ChariotWeb has been transformative for Big C. The Gift Aid process was significantly improved, with better data capture and safer monitoring of donor sign-ups across shops. Several thousand donors were transferred over initially, and thanks to the tablets’ enhanced data capture capabilities, the teams can capture data more efficiently.
