St Peter’s Hospice is an adults-only hospice which provides specialist palliative (end-of-life) support for patients in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.
The hospice operates a network of 46 charity retail shops across the UK, which play a crucial role in generating funds to support their services.
In 2015, the hospice required a new EPoS system which was reliable, easy to use and featured modules that supported Gift Aid. They selected our specialist EPoS solution – ChariotWeb – for the job.
11 years later, St Peter’s Hospice continue to use ChariotWeb across their UK-wide retail estate.
Early in 2026, St Peter’s Hospice began looking for new ways to maximise income and Gift Aid conversion through their retail operations.
They ran an awareness and fundraising campaign called ’44 Days of Light’ which references how, on average, people are referred to St Peter’s Hospice 44 days before death.
The hospice wanted to encourage customers to round up their in-store purchases by 44p and needed a simple way to implement a consistent donation prompt across their retail estate.
Alongside this, St Peter’s Hospice also sought to increase their Gift Aid conversion rate by making donor registration quicker and easier for both customers and staff.
Using ChariotWeb’s integrated round-up functionality, St Peter’s Hospice were able to create a bespoke 44p donation prompt which could be automatically processed at the point of sale, with eligible contributions benefiting from Gift Aid.
This created a simple, seamless experience for both customers and staff.
To help build on their already strong Gift Aid performance, St Peter’s Hospice also implemented our mobile donor registration app, QBuster.
Fully integrated with ChariotWeb, QBuster replaces traditional paper donor forms with a digital registration process, allowing for quick and easy donor sign-ups, Gift Aid declarations and bag drops.
By making donor registration faster and simpler, St Peter’s Hospice reduced staff administration while ensuring fewer Gift Aid opportunities were missed.
John Broomhead, Commercial Director at St Peter’s Hospice, said:
“QBuster helped us increase already strong Gift Aid conversion rates, while making donor sign up faster and easier for shop teams.”
With the help of ChariotWeb’s integrated round-up functionality, The 44 Days Campaign raised approximately £11,000 from around 25,000 transactions.
The introduction of QBuster also helped St Peter’s Hospice increase their Gift Aid conversion rate from 35% to 40%, allowing them to maximise even more Gift Aid revenue while making donor registration quicker and easier.
By combining integrated fundraising tools with intelligent Gift Aid functionality, ChariotWeb has helped St Peter’s Hospice maximise income to further support the vital care they provide across Bristol and the greater Bristol area.
